Starry Night…Holy Night…Warplanes…1991…

Fourth in a series of cards, spanning four years, retelling the stories of the birth of Jesus, and the endless ebb and flow of global warfare… A summarization and recounting of recurring fundamental, paradoxical  themes, peace and war.

Typographically, the Nativity of Jesus is summarized:
Star.
Angel.
Shepherd.
Wise Man.
Wise Man.
Wise Man.
Donkey.
Cow.
Joseph.
Mary.
Baby Jesus.

The warplanes speak for themselves.

Technically, the colors, other than matte black, are a blend of high gloss varnish tinted with either magenta, cyan, yellow or orange standard offset printing inks. The subtle changes in hue and sheen from card to card are  the results of over-printing matte black areas with spot color tinted glossy  varnishes. A distinct varnish was used on each of the cards.

The card was horizontally and vertically scored and folded to
10” x 10” for mailing.

Warplane drawings are by Zach Bottoni, Age 6.
