This booklet recounts how FOCIS through regional communities of social workers initiates, plans and programs services helping people from rural Appalachia adjust to social changes affecting them as they move from Appalachia into industrialized cities.

The narrative and booklet are divided into two distinct sections: Copy derived from quotes from people in the photographs, and text outlining the history, services and goals of FOCIS.
