A fairytale fantasy, from Act III of Petipa’s The Sleeping Beauty, performed against a dark gray background, featuring Puss-N-Boots and other fanciful characters, culminates in the Rose Adagio.
The Rose Adagio highlight is danced by Princess Aurora standing on pointe as each of four suitors hands her a rose and turns her in a circle. The ballerina needs to sustain balance on pointe while looking effortless.
A coarse mezzotint halftone, instead of a traditional halftone, was used to give the photo image a distinctive character.
