12” x 15”
A poster publicizing an exhibition and opening for works by ceramicist Andrea Joseph and sculptor Luanne I. Reed.
When asked to describe the nature of their work and what similarities were relevant to both, the agreed upon responses were “boldness,” “audacity” and “intuitiveness.” Their work shown a fondness for scale, challenging conventional assumptions and a knack for pushing the boundaries of their medium.
Both artists wanted a poster that spoke to these concerns, plus a “no-nonsense,” “straightforward” and “blunt” image. And, it had to be inexpensive.
Color wise, brown ink on tan paper seemed to address the qualities the artists expressed and, unlike black ink on white paper, it “felt” basic but was less predictable.
Designed as a multi-purpose piece, some posters were scored and folded for mailing. A 12” x 7.5” mailer was fashioned by horizontally scoring the poster and folding it in half.
