One of five posters in a set titled Cincinnati Folio promoting the Johnston Paper Company and the Berman Printing Company.

Five designers were selected by the Johnston Paper Company. The group included Stan Brod, Gordon Salchow, Anne Ghory-Goodman, Mike Zender and Joe Bottoni.

The only limitations given were the posters had to spotlight the City of Cincinnati and be printed on a paper distributed by the Johnston Paper Company.

Joe Bottoni’s intentions were to highlight the popular foods Cincinnati is famous for, beer, chili and ice cream, and the cordiality associated with eating these hometown delights. The bottle cap, oyster crackers and cherry are indicative of these foods, while at the same time, they are free from identifying a particular vendor or brand name.

The subtle black-on-black pattern of stars and linear forms in the background evokes the informality and enjoyment associated with eating these local culinary delights.
