Spring Arts Festival
University of Cincinnati
1968
23" x 35”

A weeklong public festival featuring exhibits, presentations, and performances by a virtual who’s who of avant-garde, anti-establishment artists, filmmakers, musicians, poets and dancers.

The peculiar grimacing face, a composite of a flower, butterfly and owl’s head, is telling of the time of year the event took place and, moreover, the macabre grotesqueness prevalent throughout the body of work presented.

Metallic silver ink was used to convey a sense of things appearing less than normal, outside the mainstream and brazen. A propensity all the artists universally shared.
